"Work hard, play hard"

I wish I could say that the above statement relates to me, however my situation at the minute is more like "work hard and sleep".

Work has me working long long hours that leave me so tired I feel as though I'm about to crash any minute and pass out. Aside from the long hours however, I have learnt a lot over the past few weeks..!

-Ive been put in charge (with another staff member) of a weekly event that is put on by the entertainment staff, which is pretty exciting..!
-I'm learning how to play poker...and actually won the poker tournament...!!! with the help of some friendly guests though..but Im sure that soon i'll be able to play all by myself and won't be the first person out.
-Starting to get the hang of the ernie costume and how to actually walk and dance and interact while wearing it...A LOT HARDER THAN IT MAY SEEM KIDS. YOU ACTUALLY SWEAT THE LIFE OUT OF YOU.

In other news...today was the first time I didn't see the sun since I've been here. Only rain rain rain. And for the next few days that is all that is to be expected here, as Tropical storm Sandy is on its way...If it hits, it will certainly be an interesting experience for me, to say the least...

Three weeks today...

Hello lovelies!

I know it's been a while...but here's an update on my Caribbean life!...

I've officially been here 3 weeks today..!!! WAAH so crazy.
Been working evening shifts the past week and this week again, and I actually really enjoy them, aside from the fact that I get crazy tired. I mostly work till midnight or 1am, which is a whole new experience for me, but its nice being able to not always work by the pool everyday.
Some of the things I do include shows on stage, beach parties, fashion shows, game shows and muuch more!

Did a bit of exploring today..aka, went to the bank by myself.....and got a vanilla latte ice coffee..think thats my exploring done for the day! The idea of taking a jitney (taxi) though is something that i'll probably never get used to. Standing on the corner of a street, waiting for the jitney to honk at you, and you get in the car...sounds to much like prostitution to me for some reason...Either way, it gets me from point A to B.

Already have my off day planned...going on a boat trip! Which i'm really looking forward to! Will definitely take lots of pictures :)

Speaking of pictures...here are a couple from the other day...

the two brits on the island.

thats it for now kids.

Beaches Player

Wagwan kids.

Little update on life here! Completed my first week of work and I'm loving it. I work as part of the entertainment team and i'm one of the "Players" (appropriate, i know). My job is to keep the guests entertained as some of you smart kids might have already figured out. I do poolside entertainment, such as kids for the games, pool volleyball games etc. Aside from working during the days only, I got to experience my first 2 evening entertainment nights! The infamous beach party and another event held in the waterpark. I was on the dance floor all night, so as you can imagine, I was extremely happy!

The people I work with are incredibly welcoming and so sweet. It really makes a big difference!

I also experienced my first proper night out a couple of days ago, and I have to say... I think once im back in europe at a club, im going to be disappointed! THATS how GOOD it was....!

Still have a lot of exploring to do, but I'm finally properly settling in so I'm sure that I have plenty of exploring ahead of me!

Best decision ever.

I think the resort should invest in hats that have mini fans attached to them because it is absolutely roasting while working outside.

The staff are the most welcoming people i've ever met. ever. and that is not an exaggeration whatsoever. I've never been in a country where everyone says hi to each other, even if you have no clue who they are. Pity that practically anywhere else if you say hi to a stranger, they see you as a rapist/killer/creep.

I have officially completed my first 2 days of work!! Still standing...jokes, my feet are dead.

I've already experienced my first jamaican party. Which was eventful to say the least, but also an absolute blast.

Even though i've been here for about 4 days, I can already say that coming to Turks and Caicos is by far the best decision I've ever made. Basically, what i'm trying to say is that i'm in absolute HEAVEN. Some of you might know that there are multiple reasons why i'm in heaven, but won't go into detail about that the other reason.........

Provo doesn't have any public transport at all. So you basically need a car to get to everywhere. However there are taxis. The "official" ones and the "illegal" ones. The official taxis are the taxis taken by tourists, and will charge the person a ridicules amount of money even for a 5 min drive. However the illegal ones aka "jitneys" are the taxis that everyone living on the island use. I can guarantee that if you're planning a trip to Provo and you do your usual research, they will all say that jitneys are dangerous and a big no no. Even though the cars look like they're all about to die at any point and some don't have door handles, jitneys are in fact safe enough to use. They are also a billiooon times cheaper than the "official" ones. 2 dollars per person for about a 5/6 min drive, instead of 6 or 8 dollars per person for the same distance.
My first jitney experience was unusual. Thankfully I wasn't alone so felt perfectly safe!

I'm about to pass out so adios kidz. xo

p.s. when blogger lets me upload a picture of my usual view at work, i'll no doubt plop it on here!

Waking up this morning and looking out of window was probably the nicest view to wake up to. ever. Blue skies, palm trees, my own balcony. I'm not complaining at all. Especially as I can see the clear blue ocean from it!

Can't really believe I'm here yet though! its so surreal..

I'll be posting tons of pictures on here, but wanted to start out by showing you my humble abode for the next 6 months!

I've decided to start a little blog to keep track of my caribbean experience for the next 6 months while I'm on placement. Can't promise world class blogging but as long as its decent enough for my friends and family to be updated on my life here (if they want/care that is...) im happy with it!

Firstly, some very good news...it is officially...OFFICIAL!!! After a loooooooong wait, I finally know when I'll be heading off to the lovely Turks and Caicos!
I'll be leaving the 25th of September and no doubt will I be shitting myself (we're all adults here, calm down) when boarding that flight.

Been thinking how in the world to end a post for the past 5 minutes. Do I include xoxoxo? or just a simple x... because what if this blog falls into a strangers hands? i think the xoxoxox would be too much..

xo (i think thats a happy medium)
